  • Texting teen falls down manhole, family files lawsuit

Click here for a link to the story.

I think this is all pretty damn ridiculous. Her head is basically shoved into her phone and she falls down a manhole. How many people have you heard of.. falling down a manhole? That's right, very few. In fact, she's pretty much the first case I've heard of. Why did she fall down a manhole? She was so busy texting that, well, she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings in the least.

She misses the manhole, she does NOT see it, yet somehow they blame the fact that there were no warning signs? Seriously, if she can't see a MANHOLE in the freaking sidewalk, then I HIGHLY doubt that she would have noticed any warning signs.

It boils down to the daughter being a moron, and the family being money hungry. These are the people who just wait for such an opportunity, wanting to leach money out of anyone who comes along. The type of person who stages a bad fall in the middle of a mall to try and get some money.

yes,, sad but true.. in fact you forgot to mention its also these types of people that raise insurance costs sooo much.. there immediate pay-off costs the rest of us... but hey... at least they got theres.... or did they? i hope they do not win. but i fear they will  because a couple of years ago... a man was watching a parade in arizona and wasn't paying attention and fell into a manhole.. he sued the city AND WON!!!

@CrazyMaestro - I think it's a load of crap in general. In this case the city was neglectful for not having up warning signs, yes; but she was neglectful also for not paying attention. Had she been paying attention it wouldn't have happened, other people walked by the manhole without falling in it.

She should be charged with stupidity and sentenced to a year of living in said manhole. Seriously.

@SincerelySteffanie - Haha, I agree. Chances are she'll fall down a few more manholes in her lifetime.

hehehe, when I first saw that report I laughed at the picture in my head of a young girl walking sid by side aith a friend, both testing on their phones, to each other, and without noticing, one falls into an open manhole. LOL !!!!

Then I actually witnessed a teen girl walking through WalMart texting on her phone, not looking where she was going. Again I pictured that girl falling down a manhole.

The girl at WalMart was so focused on her phone that she didn't notice anything as she walked past other customers, isles and such. It was an amazing sight to see. I'm thankful that I was not in her path, she might not have even noticed that she had run into me.

Ever here the story of the woman that spilled her cup of McDonalds coffee on her lap because she was drinking (it) while driving and sued McDonalds for a hideous amount of money?

    Same same.

@mpwarren - LOL, yeah, it is a really funny picture to imagine. In the background it's a really pretty spring day in a city, and she's strolling along when.. poof, where'd she go? lol.

Aw, a woman seriously sued McDonalds over something like that? Jeeeeeze, that's pretty moronic.
